Hawthorne K. Dent founded Safeco in 1923 in Seattle, Washington. Originally named the General Insurance Company of America, the company name was changed in 1953 to the Selective Auto and Fire Ensurance Company of America (Safeco). The company is still headquartered in Seattle.
Safeco offers 24/7 automobile claims service that carries the pledge that the company will contact everyone involved in the claim within 24 hours. Safeco has a special feature for families with teen drivers. Their “Teensurance” option is designed to take away the anxiety of having a teenager behind the wheel of a car. The specially designed safety package includes roadside assistance that can be used when a vehicle is out of gas, has a dead battery, is stalled or has a flat tire. Assistance is also available when a teen is locked out of their car.
Also included in “Teensurance” is the “Safety Beacon,” which is a professionally installed GPS. The “Safety Beacon” system offers stolen vehicle tracking and retrieval, remote door unlocking capability and reminders related to speed limits and curfews. Safeco also provides tools for parents to utilize to help them identify times when their kids might be at risk.
Along with providing drivers with the basics, such as comprehensive, collision, liability, uninsured and medical expense insurance, Safeco offers Florida vehicle operators many options. Some of the choices available to Florida car insurance policyholders include audio, visual and customized equipment coverage, loan and lease coverage and roadside assistance
Audio, visual and customized equipment can be covered for up to $5,000, with the policyholder selecting the level of coverage. This is available for permanently installed equipment only. They also offer gap insurance. Sometimes when people get in an accident and their car is totaled, there is a considerable “gap” between what is owed on the vehicle and its actual cash value. Loan and lease coverage is designed to neutralize the difference. Drivers with Florida insurance policies may also select new vehicle replacement coverage, which will pay the full purchase price if your vehicle is a total loss in the first year of ownership. The roadside assistance feature pays for reasonable charges related to breakdown and towing.
If you’re a safe driver, you can see your collision deductible slowly shrink. For every six months that a policyholder stays free of making a claim, their deductible is reduced by $50 with the maximum reduction being $500 over five years.
Safeco has a range choices and options that will influence a potential client’s Florida insurance quote. Put together your prospective package now to get a better grasp on Safeco products.
