The Travelers Companies have longstanding roots in America that go back to 1864 when they became the first company in the United States to offer accident insurance. They were initially headquartered in Hartford, CT. In 2004, Travelers merged with Saint Paul Fire and Marine Insurance Company to become Saint Paul Travelers. The corporate headquarters was then relocated to Saint Paul, Minnesota. In 2007, they were renamed The Travelers Companies.
The company is big, not only do they sell Florida car insurance, but they are the second largest writer of personal insurance sold by independent brokers and agents in the United States. They are rated 89th in the Fortune 500, and by market value Travelers is the largest insurer in the country. There are over 14,000 independent brokers and agents that sell Travelers insurance.
The insurance company provides policyholders with 27/7 service, handling claims around the clock. Travelers notes that it makes its “first priority” getting its clients back on the road as quickly and efficiently as possible. They feature a guaranteed auto repair program that is available throughout the country and auto glass repair and replacement shops, providing service at either the home or office.
Numerous discounts are available through Travelers, including multi-car, driver training, good student and good driver discounts. Other premium reductions are given for certain anti-theft devices and safety features, such as anti-lock brakes, airbags and passive restraints. Some policies also offer a discount to owners of hybrid automobiles.
Florida insurance coverage by Travelers includes collision and comprehensive. Collision, which is the most basic type of coverage, is concerned with damage that occurs from impact with another car. Auto damage from vandalism, theft, fire, hail and other such occurrences and events is covered under the comprehensive section of a policy.
Liability coverage is divided into bodily injury and property damage. Travelers offers Florida auto insurance in both areas. Bodily injury covers drivers against a lawsuit or claim from when others are injured in a car accident and the policyholder is deemed legally responsible. The property damage section provides protection to policyholders for any lawsuit or claim caused by a vehicle accident in which another person’s auto and property are damaged.
Uninsured or underinsured motorist coverage is geared towards injury related to an uninsured driver or hit-and-run accident. The medical payments section of a Travelers auto policy pays for reasonable medical expenses related to an accident in which a claimant, their family or other passengers are involved.
